Both teams were evenly matched up to the end of the
thrid quarter where the Australians took the lead beating
the Germany 122 to 76. The Madrid Bears did not attend

24.08.2003 Berlin win against Hamburg
In the final AFLG game of 2003, the Berlin won
the away game against Hamburg. In the 9 against 9 (then
10 against 10 then 9 against 8) game, the skills of
the Berlin team were stronger though the Hamburgers
had a number of good goals. Ex Carlton AFL player 'Wow'
Jones joined the Hamburg team as full forward and helped
out as referee.
The win puts Berlin as second overall
in the 2003 AFLG season after Munich. Frankfurt were
placed third and Hamburg fourth.

13.08.2003 Berlin Cup Postponed
The Berlin Cup was an initiative to allow the
football starved European nations a chance for 'another
game'. Due to an excellent footy season with regular
AFLG matches and a number of tournaments and pres-season
games, the Berlin Cup has been postponed, probably
until next year.

28.07.2003 Germany
win 3rd place
On the 26th/27th of July, a German team participated
in the Sheepstation Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark. The players
formed a mixed German/Australian team and had a challenging
7 games over 2 days. On day 1 the first two games were
against the overall winners of the competition Jutland/Tigers
who had entered two teams. Despite an unexpected hard
first game, Germany still provided a challenge and were
able to minimise score deficits even with two losses.
Germany won the next game against the Barras by a comfortable
margin of 18 points and in the final game against Malmo,
Germany suffered a loss with only a few points difference.
This saw Germany in place 7 from 10 after day one with
a percentage of about 55%. On day two, Germany defeated
the Copenhagen Crocodiles and then suffered a loss to
Aalborg by only a few points. This left Germany equal
with Copenhagen in points, but below them on percentage.
In a surprise move, Copenhagen forfeited and Germany
now had a chance for 3rd position, against Aalborg who
had defeated Germany on the same day. In an exciting
game for 3rd/4th, the German team showed true spirit
an captured a win with 5 points lead and giving the Germans
a 3rd place at the Sheep Station Cup and prize money
of 1000 Krones.
The German players were: Johannus, Nils,
Cam, Chris, Paul, Steve, Rooster, Frank, Greg, Michael
and Simon.

08.06.2003 Berlin
def. by Munich
The Crocodiles were defeted by the Munich Crocodiles
last Saturday at a dissapointing score of 49:95. But
the game was better than the result. The Crocs had
the ball as often as the Roos but made more mistakes.
The injured Paul M. and Karl M. in the forward line
prevented the Crocs to complete.
The ladder got mixed on the saturday. To get on the top of the ladder will
be difficult for the crocodiles, because Frankfurt defeted Hamburg with 80
points.

Crocodiles homegame
This Saturday the Berlin Crocodiles have a homegame
against the guests from Munich. The Crocs have already
won the first game against the Kangaroos by only 9
points (as the result was 120:129) and are aiming to
duplicate this winning streak to remain at the top.
To improve the quality of the game and of the event of having an AFL game in
Berlin the Berlin players will be pleased about any spectator. This would even
show the Kangaroos respect for their long journey to Berlin. To watch the game
costs you of course only 2-3 hours on a Saturday afternoon. There is plenty
of space around the playing ground to have picnic. The Crocodiles will bring
a barbecue and some sausages. But it is even allowed to BYO!
Game starts at 14:00. The playing field is at Treptower
Park >>>.
28.05.2003 Bild
Zeitung Response
On Sunday the 26th a nice picture of the gameplay
with a short passage and the results of the Frankfurt
Redbacks verses Berlin Crocodiles game appeared. Just
a note however, in the typical 'Bild Zeitung' reporting
style the caption to the photo read "A Frankfurt
player catches the egg (ball), his Berlin opponant
appears undecided and doesn't have any effect (or doesn't
bother him)." When you see the video we shot
of the match you will notice that this caption is actually
incorrect as I tackled the Frankfurt player and the
ball goes out of the sideline..... but we all know
about the Bild Zeitung :)

Yes
thats right, Matthew Stinziani joined his 'First' winter

playing status for 2003 has been changed from AWOL to

Award 'in the bag'.

Well, not yet... but thats the goal for 2003.
The Berlin Crocodiles are aiming to suppliment their

videos sent from relatives and friends based in Australia.
We are working to find a regular venue and will lobby
the AFL and sports channel to provide regular AFL coverage,
not just for Berlin, but the other AFL hotspots in Germany
including Muniich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.
